Parent Participation

Parents and New School family members are integral to the success of the school. The business of the school is made possible through the Executive Committee. This committee is comprised of parents and guardians who are elected by the school community. The Executive Committee is also responsible for setting up sub-committees for special projects such as grant writing, fund raising, and public relations.

The elected Executive Committee members are:

Susan Giarusso-Krabacher: term ends June 2010
Nancy Lipsitt: term ends June 2010
Jeff Simmons: term TBA

Parents and family members are welcome to participate at any time throughout the day. Family members often chose to visit or help with "Investigations" in the afternoon. During this time, students are provided with creative and challenging opportunities to explore.

Conferences are held twice yearly (three-times yearly for new families). Parents and guardians are welcome to request additional conferences and to initiate discussions with teachers regarding their student's experiences, progress and/or challenges.
