Admission Procedure
Interested families are invited to schedule a visit while school is in session. A member of the Enrollment Committee would be delighted to meet with you to answer questions and explain the daily functioning of the school while in the school environment.

The child’s visit may be scheduled next. A half-day followed by a full day allows time for the child to get familiar with the school, and then feel comfortable returning for a full day. The teachers plan curriculum for the visiting child so s/he is a participant rather than an observer; the child is involved in paired and small group activities and projects. The child gets a sense of what it would be like to attend The New School, while teachers note strengths and needs of the child concerning how curriculum might be designed for that student. Admissions decisions are made after teachers and parents reflect on the child/school “fit.”
Tuition
Tuition for the 2010-2011 academic year is $7700. Most families at The New School choose a ten-payments plan. An initial Deposit of 10% of the total is due with the Enrollment Contract.
The school offers a 15% reduction in tuition for a sibling attending the same year.
A modest Tuition Grant is available for an incoming family, and one for a returning family. Disbursement of grants, based on need, is decided by an outside committee of former board members. The school is registered with Sallie Mae, which makes education loans as for college tuition.
The After School Program runs from 3:00-5:30, with a fee of $15 for registered students, $18 for drop-ins, and a 15% discount for a sibling. The Child Study Day Program, an option on the monthly teacher planning day, costs $30 for the 9-3 day, also with a 15% sibling discount.
