Is The New School right for your child?
What we offer
At the New School we view children as unique individuals with their own patterns and timing for growth. Exploration is considered an important vehicle for children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. In order for children to make learning meaningful, they need time to explore the workings of their world.
The curriculum reflects the natural connections between all subjects and is responsive to children's interest and needs. The curriculum is a blend of child-initiated projects and teacher-initiated activities and projects.
The ratio of students to full-time teachers is 10-1 or lower. Additionally, the New School staff also includes university students and teaching volunteers.
Will your child fit in and succeed?
No school is right for every child, but The New School may well be just the place where your child can flourish. Our individualized approach to curriculum enables every child to begin at exactly the right point and to advance at the right pace in all areas. The teachers assess needs on an ongoing basis, and they make sure that every student gets the instruction and support they need, both to make strong progress and to satisfy their natures as learners.
Children are never rated or ranked. They are not rigidly grouped in ways that over-challenge some while boring others. The years have proven the value in this approach. Graduates of The New School are well prepared to transition into whatever follows in their academic lives.
